How this works
- Same period only. Insurers are never compared across different quarters.
- Skipped, not guessed. An insurer that has not published a form we need, or whose form we could not read reliably, is left out of that page; the reason is under Notes in this panel.
- What is shown. A figure is shown only when it is read from the insurer’s own PDF and its rows add up to the total the insurer prints. Otherwise the cell shows a dash and is not ranked.
- Units. The source forms print ₹ lakh; the pages show ₹ crore (1 crore = 100 lakh).
- Updates. New quarters are added about 45 to 60 days after the quarter ends; the data is refreshed through a reviewed pull request, never automatically on the live site.
What each overview column ranks
- Business: gross premium, largest first.
- Distribution: expenses of management as a share of gross premium, lowest first.
- Claims: claims settled as a share of claims on hand, highest first.
- Performance: combined ratio, lowest first. Balance sheet: total assets, largest first. Solvency: solvency ratio, highest first. Risk: share of premium ceded to reinsurers rated below AA, lowest first.
- A figure that is not available has no rank.
- Each Financial column is ranked on its own. No block stands in for another.
Colours
Green, amber, red: best, middle and weakest third of the insurers shown; a ringed cell is the best, a dashed ring the weakestBlue shading (no verdict): darker means a higher valueA dash means the insurer has not published that figure in a form we can read reliably (reasons are listed under Notes, below); it is left out of the ranking
